Sensei Michael Paredes- Chief instructor at Warrior Martial Arts Karate Self-Defense

Since 2007 I have been training at the Center For Karate & Family Fitness
school in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ under the leadership of Grandmaster/Dr. Juan
Otero and Sensei Dale Inglima. Like everyone else, I started my training as a
“nyumonsha” or beginner, having no prior martial arts experience. With
consistent dedication and training, I was able to achieve my Black Belt in 2013,
followed by my 2 nd Degree Black Belt in 2015, and my 3 rd Degree Black Belt in
2018 along with the title of Sensei, or teacher of the arts. In 2022 I earned the
rank of 4 th Degree Black Belt. I am, however, consistently looking to learn,
grow, and achieve greater goals.

I have been a life-long resident of Bergen County. In addition, I graduated from
Nyack College and the Culinary Institute of America, receiving my BS degree in
Business and AOS degree in Occupational Studies, respectively. I am a proud
veteran of the US Air Force, receiving my Honorable Discharge at the rank of
Sergeant.

Warrior Martial Arts encourages and promotes faith, family, and friends.
I am honored to begin this journey in our martial arts school at the TLC Church
in Wood-Ridge and the Bethany Community Center in Washington Township.
I hope you will begin your martial arts training with us.

Sensei Deborah Adams  Go-Dan (5th Degree) Senior Instructor

My name is sensei Deborah Adams. I began my martial arts training in 2001 and
received the rank of Go Dan, 5 th degree black belt in March of 2022.
Karate is a lifelong study and it runs through every aspect of my life. Just as a
tree has one trunk but many branches, a well-rounded karate ka is well trained in
all the disciplines of the arts. Training the mind, body and spirit is essential to
growth not only in the arts but in life as well. Staying active and in Nature
through hiking, canoeing, foraging, weight training etc, is very important to me
in balancing my training when not in the Dojo. Meditation, yoga and breath-work
bring me to the internal, soft-side of the art which helps keep me grounded and
centered.
My goal is to continue to share the heart of karate, which is self-defense to my
community. Through the dojo and the various seminars and classes we offer I
hope to help all people learn confidence, self-control and the ability to keep
themselves and those whom they love safe. This is my ultimate joy.

Se Min Um- Yon-dan (4th Degree)

My name is Se Min Um and I am a 4th degree black belt (Yondan) in Goshin-Ryu Karate. I have beentraining in martial arts since I was 14 years old, and my formal experience includes Karate, Taekwondo, and the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program (MCMAP). I enjoy learning from other styles of combat sports such as boxing, wrestling, Muay Thai, Jujitsu, and Judo, and elements of these different styles are visible in my techniques. I also enjoy other physical activities such as cycling, basketball, and weight lifting, and I believe that all forms of exercise can be enjoyable and beneficial to our health. I have always had an interest in martial arts because it is a skill that can be used in all aspects of our lives, but most importantly, it has given me the ability to defend the people who I love and the beliefs that I stand for. We are all brothers and sisters on this little planet we call Earth, and joining the martial arts community will allow entry into a vast and deep brother/sisterhood of incredible people. I hope my story can inspire others to benefit from the wealth of gifts that the martial arts have to offer.

Ms. Andrea Hewitt- Yondan (4th Degree)

I started my karate journey in 2002 under Sensei Otero at the Center for
Karate and Family Fitness in Hackensack, NJ. Through the generosity and
kindness of Sensei Otero and Sensei Inglima, I was able to train with many
masters in many different disciplines. These opportunities not only allowed
me to grow as a student, but to grow personally as well.
My focus is now on teaching, and I consider it a great honor to pass on
even just a fraction of the wisdom that my teachers imparted on me.
I try to carry the skills and wisdom I have gained in my years of training to
all aspects of my life. I am fortunate that my husband is also a martial artist,
and I hope to one day train with my daughter as she grows.
